Frequently asked questions

Can sharpening fix a badly out-of-focus photo?

It can rescue slightly soft images by strengthening edge contrast, but it can't recreate detail that was never captured — a heavily blurred photo will stay blurred. Start with the Medium preset and judge in the before/after view.

What do amount, radius and threshold do?

Amount is the strength of the effect. Radius is how wide an area around each edge gets enhanced — keep it low (1–2) for fine detail. Threshold protects smooth areas like skin and sky from turning grainy; raise it if noise appears.

Why does the preview update faster than the download?

Sliders run on a smaller working copy for instant feedback, and the full-resolution version renders in the background a moment later — the Download button always gives you the full-size result.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. SqueezePix runs entirely in your browser — files are opened and processed on your own device and never transmitted anywhere. You can even load the page, go offline, and keep working.
